Media Monday!
Hey folks! It's late, but where I'm from it's still Monday.

To keep things moving along (especially when news is slow), Monday will now and forever be "Media Monday!" Hopefully it will cheer you up and get you through the week.

This week's bit of media is a show from 2004. Feel free to share these mp3's with whomever you'd like. Remember, though - you should never sell a live recording, nor should you ever pay for one (unless it is officially released by the band, of course). The band is nice enough to let fans share recordings like these - please don't ruin it for everybody by doing something dishonest.

Tonight's show in California has been cancelled due to Dan's illness. Please keep Dan and his family in your prayers.
Air1 Recap
Here's a quick recap of the Air1 interview this morning:

- Steve, Charlie, and Matt were interviewed. Dan was on vocal rest due to an illness.
- The title of Dan's children's book is Magnificent Me, and it will be released in September to major bookstores (thanks to Jarchive's own Lizzy "inajar" for asking!).
- There is a Blood:Water tie-in with the searchwithjars website, so keep searching!
- Ladies, Gabe Ruschival is single.
- The band discussed the studio atmosphere for recording Christmas Songs.
- The full recording of the new song Peace is Here was aired

- Steve and Charlie shared a few thoughts on Lindsay Lohan, and how every human can identify on some level with Lohan's plight. Charlie commented on the popular tendency intead to ostracize and judge Lohan as a means of self-reassurement (i.e. "Thank God I'm not Lindsay Lohan this week!"). Steve reminded listeners that there is no "sliding scale" when it comes to the Gospel, and "we all have the same need."
- The band discussed Blood:Water Mission's "two rescues:" for those in need from a lack of rescources, and for Americans from trivia in the light of what really matters.
- The band likes iPhones, but they think they're too expensive
- When asked about whether Harry Potter was acceptable reading, the band shared how they believe the truth of the Gospel can be reflected in all kinds of art, Christian or not. They stressed parents' responsiblility to develop "tools of discernment" in a child for when they are presented with something contrary to their beliefs.
- The band asked for prayers for Dan, who has an ear, nose, and throat infection.
- The band reiterated that $1 provides clean water for one African for a year.

The Essential Jars of Clay
According to musictap.net, Jars of Clay will join the fold of artists with best-of compilations when they release a 2-disc set this fall:

"Essential Records and Legacy will release a 2CD The Essential Jars of Clay on September 4 for Christian Contemporary crossovers, Jars of Clay. This career retrospective will feature all of their hits, some album cuts and fan favourites, as well as some rarities. Included songs will be “Flood,” “Widowing Field,” and “Little Drummer Boy.”"

The Widowing Field, eh? Sounds like it could shape up to be an interesting tracklist.

Thanks to zepjoc at Jarchives for the heads up.

Nashville News Article Mentions Blood:Water Mission
For villagers, it would mean never again having to walk miles in the dark to find help for the sick.
But the clinic, off to such a good start, never opened. Ochieng, caught up in the middle of medical school, ran out of time and money.
That's how his story ended in 2006, but it turns out, it was just beginning.
First came help from the rock band Jars of Clay and its nonprofit organization BloodWater Mission...

"Recently finished with recording a Christmas album, Jars of Clay is at work on a score for a documentary that features two brothers who start a clinic in Africa.

'It's an amazing story of what rarely happens in Africa,' said Haseltine, the activist in him taking over. 'When people leave there to get an education and go back. Most times they get it and leave.'"
