Christmas Video Submissions
First they wanted your sweaters; now they want your Christmas videos! Check out the latest news post from jarsofclay.com:

The air is changing, leaves are turning, yellow school buses are out in force everywhere, and we at Jars of Clay HQ are preparing to launch our tour with Third Day and we need your help!

We are looking for holiday home movies to use as a video backdrop during our shows. We have some of our own, but think that you might have some that are far more fun and interesting. You know the ones we're talking about: Great Grandma on that floral couch from the 70's opening a box of peanut brittle, or cousin Billy gnawing on those Legos from Uncle Milt. Or the ones from the blizzard of '78 with everyone in snowsuits that make them look like formless jellybeans. Or Dad shovelling the driveway while being pelted with snowballs. Or the one of your baby sister bawling on Santa's lap at the mall. You get the idea...

If you have footage that you think is too amazing for words, we would love to see it and with your permission, include it in the video montage we'll be putting together for the "Christmas Offerings" tour.

Please send your film either on DVD or VHS tape to:

Jars of Clay Holiday Films
c/o Nettwerk Music Group
1201 Villa Place, Suite
Nashville, TN

Please send your submissions by November 8th.

If you already have the footage on your computer, we will have a site ready next week where you can upload it.

We're looking forward to seeing what you send in, and even more excited to see the final product!

Happy Holidays!!

Magnificent Me Article
Today we are graced with another writeup on Dan's children's book, this time from The Tennessean:

"I remember as a kid always wrestling with that idea that I didn't measure up," he says. "I think for me what (the book) did was it just presented the opportunity to speak that for my kids — to say, 'You really are special, and it doesn't really matter if you're the fastest bike-rider or the highest jumper. You've got a gift for just being who you are.' It's autobiographical, but it's also something I'm seeing that most kids need to hear pretty regularly."

Jars of Clay Wants Your Sweaters
According to their latest myspace bulletin, Jars of Clay wants your sweaters:

Jars of Clay are givers. Truly. And we are giving you the opportunity to give us your ugliest holiday sweater. Yep. We're that nice. Send us your CLEAN Christmas sweater / vest etc. You know the one we mean. The one from Aunt Ruby that scratches, itches and gives you a rash. The winning sweater donor will receive a Jars of Clay autographed prize pack including a copy of the new album and whatever else we find around the studio.

...Be sure to include your name and email address so we can thank you. Oh, and if you have a picture of yourself in the sweater - send that along too. We will also be taking pictures of ourselves in the sweaters you send that we will post on jarsofclay.com. When we're done playing dress up, we will be donating the sweaters to a local shelter so they will get some use.

Send your sweaters here:

Media Monday
This week, we present scans of Issue One of The Crazy Times: The Official Jars of Clay Newsletter.

This is presented solely for archival and educational purposes. I'm not a fan of watermarks, so I'm trusting that if you use these images on your own website you will give proper credit. Please keep in mind that this was printed in 1998. If you want to contact the band's management or order merchandise, don't use the information provided on the scans (you can always find current contact information at jarsofclay.com).

PS - Today marks the blog's "two month anniversary," and we're averaging around 25 hits per day. This site is a labor of love funded completely out-of-pocket for me, so it's encouraging to know that people find this site worthwhile. Thanks for visiting!

Lifelight Fest Review
A review of Jars of Clay's performance at Lifelight Fest has been posted at ArgusLeader.com:

[Songs like] the band's big secular crossover hit "Flood" - which featured Haseltine stalking the stage like Mick Jager minus the sexual swagger, and the repetitive pop tune "Love Me" brought people's hands up into the air.
