New Magnificent Me Article
“Noah and Max did not know I had contacted a publisher and that the book was coming out, so when I received my first copy, I surprised them with it at bedtime. To paraphrase a newspaper that captured that moment, ‘It might not have been thousands of people clapping at a Jars of Clay concert, but those two little pairs of hands clapping meant more than anything.’”

New Christmas projects seldom sound quite this elaborate or vibrant...After multiple listens, the initial wonder does not wane: Jars Of Clay's Christmas Songs may be the best modern Christmas album to come along in a long, long time.

Interviews for Christmas Songs
Dan and Steve have been taking interviews about the new album, Christmas Songs, and thanks to illusionescape we got them here:

Yeah, “Drummer Boy” was curious, especially in regard to our inability to get back to what we originally did in 1995 when we covered it. That was actually one of the harder works on the record, trying to breathe new life into it.

Finally, A Jars of Clay Christmas (10/12/07)
by Kevan Breitinger of CM Central with Steve Mason,
read it all here.

We've wanted to for a long time. Ever since we did Drummer Boy, the EP, it seemed like a lot of our fans wanted us to do a full-length Christmas record. They would ask for it year after year. A few different times, we started to begin one and would actually get something going, and we kept getting shut down, either for just reasons of just us not having the time to make it happen or the label saying 'we've got other records we need to focus on for the holidays," so it just kept getting pushed back. Now, since we're not on Essential Records anymore, we felt that maybe the first thing we should do as an independent band is make a Christmas record for our fans.

Christmas with Jars of Clay (8/3/07)
by John DiBiase of Jesus Freak Hideout with Dan Haseltine and Matt Odmark.

From The Road: House of Blues Anaheim Show (October 10)
Some friends went to a Jars concert in Anaheim last Wednesday and although HOB security didn't let them take pictures, they manage to get some nice gallery that you should check out. This was an amazing show because Dan announced that they would be filming that day (I wonder for what...) and because of that, I can see the reason of making a long and interesting setlist:

Good Monsters
Work
God Will Lift Up Your Head
Nothing But The Blood
Love Song
Mirrors and Smoke
Peace Is Here
Hibernation Day
Love Came Down At Christmas
Frail
There Is A River
Oh My God
All My Tears
Flood
Dead Man
Love Me
Revolution
Don't Change

Encore:
Liquid
Baker Street
Light Gives Heat

Credit goes to Zak for the gallery and Jason for the setlist.

Edit: it looks like Jars of Clay's blog has been updated with some info about this show, this is from Steve:
Here's a shot from the House Of Blues in Anaheim. Rock was brought. And lots of audience enthusiasm, too.
So, there's been some fun video taken on this trip, as well. Stay tuned for some of that. California adventures. Lots of In and Out Burgers. Lots of tummy trouble after that. Lots of jogging the next morning.
