Interviews for Christmas Songs
Dan and Steve have been taking interviews about the new album, Christmas Songs, and thanks to illusionescape we got them here:

Yeah, “Drummer Boy” was curious, especially in regard to our inability to get back to what we originally did in 1995 when we covered it. That was actually one of the harder works on the record, trying to breathe new life into it.

Finally, A Jars of Clay Christmas (10/12/07)
by Kevan Breitinger of CM Central with Steve Mason,
read it all here.

We've wanted to for a long time. Ever since we did Drummer Boy, the EP, it seemed like a lot of our fans wanted us to do a full-length Christmas record. They would ask for it year after year. A few different times, we started to begin one and would actually get something going, and we kept getting shut down, either for just reasons of just us not having the time to make it happen or the label saying 'we've got other records we need to focus on for the holidays," so it just kept getting pushed back. Now, since we're not on Essential Records anymore, we felt that maybe the first thing we should do as an independent band is make a Christmas record for our fans.

Christmas with Jars of Clay (8/3/07)
by John DiBiase of Jesus Freak Hideout with Dan Haseltine and Matt Odmark.

Jars of Clay Wants Your Sweaters
According to their latest myspace bulletin, Jars of Clay wants your sweaters:

Jars of Clay are givers. Truly. And we are giving you the opportunity to give us your ugliest holiday sweater. Yep. We're that nice. Send us your CLEAN Christmas sweater / vest etc. You know the one we mean. The one from Aunt Ruby that scratches, itches and gives you a rash. The winning sweater donor will receive a Jars of Clay autographed prize pack including a copy of the new album and whatever else we find around the studio.

...Be sure to include your name and email address so we can thank you. Oh, and if you have a picture of yourself in the sweater - send that along too. We will also be taking pictures of ourselves in the sweaters you send that we will post on jarsofclay.com. When we're done playing dress up, we will be donating the sweaters to a local shelter so they will get some use.
